Irish manufacturing company commits $61M to largest North American facility in Glasgow

Tate, a subsidiary of Ireland’s Kingspan Group PLC, is establishing its largest North American manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Kentucky. The $61.2 million project will create 400 full-time jobs once the 764,000-square-foot site is fully operational, marking the largest job-creation announcement in Barren County in nearly two decades.

The facility will produce advanced thermal management and airflow solutions designed for data centres, reinforcing Tate’s global reputation for innovative infrastructure products. This marks the company’s first manufacturing presence in Kentucky, expanding its U.S. footprint alongside its 21 existing facilities worldwide.

State and local leaders collaborated with Tate to secure the investment, with support including a 15-year performance-based tax incentive under the Kentucky Business Investment program and up to $300,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act. The company will also benefit from workforce services such as recruitment, job placement, and customized training.

Governor Andy Beshear highlighted the investment as a milestone for Barren County and Kentucky’s manufacturing sector, noting the state’s ability to attract high-quality projects with a skilled workforce and strategic location. The announcement aligns with a broader period of economic growth, building on over 1,200 private-sector expansions and new-location projects totaling $43 billion and 63,200 new jobs under the governor’s administration.

Kentucky has also emerged as a hub for electric vehicle and battery manufacturing, with major projects from Ford, SK On, AESC, and Toyota complementing Tate’s investment. Rising wages, record employment levels, and improved credit ratings underscore the state’s growing appeal for advanced manufacturing operations.
